His fame spread across Venice, Italy and Europe, helped in part by the publication of some of his works. In addition to teaching he also composed music to be played by the school's orchestra and choir, and he also performed with them. ![]() There were also boys at the orphanage, but their education concentrated on learning a trade and they generally left to become apprentices at the age of 15.
